See the city¡¦s colonial heritage in all its splendour with a drive past Parliament House and the imposing Supreme Court and City Hall that overlooks the Padang, the venue for many state occasions. Then proceed to fascinating Chinatown where temples and traditional shop houses retain the Chinese character in this enclave. Next, capture a bird¡¦s eye view of the world¡¦s busiest port from MT. Faber.

From a height of 105 metres above sea level, you can see the oil refineries on the off-shore islands, reflecting Singapore¡¦s position as one of the World¡¦s largest petroleum refining center. A stop will be made at a Jewellery wholesale factory for a demonstration on jewellery hand-crafting, where purchase is optional. The next stop is the National Orchid Garden located in the Botanic Gardens where the first rubber trees were planted in this part of the world. Finally, we drive pass Little India to experience the lively trading community and be overwhelmed by the charms of this part of old Singapore.

 

Johore Bahru Escapade

Take a trip to Johor Bahru, capital of Johor, the southern most state of Malaysia. You will experience a more relaxed lifestyle that exists amidst a curious blend of historic and modern architecture. The Royal Abu Bakar Mosque makes a splendid photo stop with its majestic domes and minarets, overlooking the straits of Johor.

Discover the delicate art of batik painting at Sarasa, a local Batik Handicraft Centre, where artists skillfully create lovely works of art on cloth with wax. Each item is painstakingly produced by hand. Before returning to Singapore, be charmed by our graceful dancers, listen to the captivating sounds of the ¡§Angklung¡¨, a musical instrument of the East and soak in the ambience of a traditional Kampong (Village) House.

 

Kukup Fishing Village & Orchid Valley

(Duration : 8.5 hours)

A century old fishing village built entirely on stilts!! This is what Kukup Fishing Village is all about. It is ideally shadowed by one of the world¡¦s largest mangrove swamp island. From the city of Johor Bahru, we head out to the countryside, a journey that takes us through countless rubber, oil palm, fruit orchards and quaint villages.

A stop will be made at a Pewter Factory. The Orchid Valley ¡V encompassing a 40 hectares spread presents visitor with a breathtaking view of more than 80 different tropical orchid breeds. Internationally recognized, some hybrids are registered with the World Orchid Society in London. An excellent seafood lunch awaits at Kukup, followed by a boat trip to one of the Fish Farms to see how the fishes are reared. Back in the village we proceed along pathways made of planks to observe an entire community living by the sea. On the return journey, we break for tea at a local Batik handicraft center.

 

Visit Malacca

This full day tour takes you north to visit Malacca, one of the oldest city which has been referred to as the ¡§Cradle of Malaysia¡¦s civilization¡¨. Malacca¡¦s rich history covers 600 years from a Malay Kingdom under Chinese protection to a Portuguese build port, then taken over by the Dutch, who passed it to the British and eventually made a part of Malaysia.

The drive to Malacca takes us through rubber and oil plantations and other cash crops and fruit farms. After Lunch in Malacca, we relive the past by visiting historical sites such as the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple in Chinatown, the Dutch Square with its old colonial buildings, the ruins of the Portuguese fortress, A Farmosa and last but not least a climb up St. Paul¡¦s Hill to see where the body of St Frances Xavier was interred.
