Also known as “Monkey Dance”, this is a chorus of a ritual trance ceremony played by a hundred persons or more sitting in rings within a circle around a large burning torch. They gather at dusk in the village hall or under the sacred Banyan tree. A story taken from Ramayana Hindu epic, how an army of monkeys came to aid Prince Rama to defeat the evil of King Rawana who kidnapping Princess Shinta.
