Optional Yangon City Tours

Golden Yangon (Full Day Yangon City Tour/ 10 hours):
Yangon has been the capital of Myanmar since the middle of the 19th century when the British transformed it into their administrative centre of Further India. Its impressive colonial and spiritual heritage makes Yangon one of the most fascinating capitals of South East Asia. A morning tour includes Myanmar's holiest monument the Shwedagon Pagoda with its golden stupa covered with 60 tons of pure gold leaf. Continue with a visit to the National Museum and Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda's 70m long reclining Buddha. The afternoon tour features downtown Yangon with its faded colonial atmosphere. Sights include Sule Pagoda, Mahabandoola Park, India town & Chinatown and free time for shopping at Bogyoke Market, formerly Scott's Market. (L)

 

Golden Yangon (Half Day Yangon City Tour/ 10 hours):

Fullday to Mon Kingdom (Full day Bago Tour/ 10 hours):
A full day trip to Bago, a 2-hour drive 80km to the north west of Yangon. Formerly known as Pegu, Bago was the capital of the Mon Kingdom of Lower Myanmar in the 15th century and is one of the most interesting cities in Myanmar. Sightseeing in Bago includes the beautiful 55 meter long reclining Buddha, Shwethalyaung and the Mon style Shwemawdaw Pagoda, one of the most venerated in Myanmar. Its spire stands 114m high and is even taller than the Shwedagon Pagoda. Visit also the old Palace "Kamboza Thadi" and the huge 4 sitting Buddha's "Kyaikpun". End the tour of Bago with a walk around the colourful Bago Market. On the way back to Yangon, visit the Allied War Cemetery near Htaukkyan, the final resting place for over 27,000 allied soldiers, and also visit a local woven bamboo factory.(L)

 

Full day Excursion to Syriam (10 hours) :
Tour by car to Syriam, once a major port, but now a sleepy village. Enroute, visit Kyaik Kyauk Pagoda ( Mon Pagoda), legend said built since over 2000 years ago. Continue to Yele Pagoda(Mid-Stream-Pagoda), set on a tiny island in the river and explore two further pagodas and the riverside market where you can taste famous Myanmar dried fish (Nga Poke Chauk). Full day trip to Twente (10 hours) :
Board a public boat in Yangon for crossing the Yangon river (15 minutes) and continue by road to TWENTE, located 24 km to the east of the capital. Famous for its pottery industry, visit a traditional pottery workshop where working methods have remained unchanged since generation and observe the daily life of the local people in this charming small town. After lunch (boxed lunch) visit to Shwesandaw Pagoda with its impressive75 m high Stupa. Return to Yangon by road through idyllic landscapes of rice paddies, river and villages. ( L )
